Sizes

Sizes answer the question you get at the shop: what size is he now? Famn keeps one current value per person and type, so Shoe · EU 38 is what you see, and the earlier values behind it, so you can see that it was 36 last spring.

Sizes belong to a person in People. Open a person's page and look under Sizes, or open More → Sizes for everyone's current sizes in one list.

Clothing and shoe sizes carry a Scale: EU, UK or US. Body measurements are recorded in centimetres. A person's page shows shopping sizes first and body measurements after them.

Adding a size

Tap + next to Sizes on a person's page, or + in the sizes list, and fill in the type, the value, the scale, and when it was measured (Recorded on, today by default). Under More details you can note the Brand, since a 38 is not a 38 everywhere, and change Who can see this if the person's default is not right for this one.

Saving a new value for a type the person already has does not overwrite the old one: the new value becomes the current size and the old one moves to Earlier.

Current sizes and earlier ones

The list shows one row per type with the current value and its date. Tap Earlier on a row to see the history: every value recorded for that type, newest first, with its date.

The history is Premium. On the free plan you still record every size and always see the current one; the earlier values are kept, and appear as soon as the household has Premium.

The shoe-size guide

A shoe size in one scale is not always obvious in another. On a shoe size, choose View in another size system to open the Shoe-size guide:

  1. Choose the Reference chart: adult men, adult women, older children (EU 32–40), younger children (EU 25–35), or babies and toddlers (EU 16–27). Choose the range for the shoes, not for the person's age.
  2. Choose Show size in: EU, UK or US.

The guide shows the Recorded size and the Equivalent in this chart. It uses Nike's size chart as the reference; other brands and models differ, so treat it as a guide, not a promise of fit. It never changes the saved size.

A few sizes cannot be looked up: ranges, text, fractions, and sizes recorded with a physical unit. US children's sizes with a C or Y label are understood, but only in a children's chart. If a chart lists more than one equivalent, the guide says so rather than picking one.

Who sees what

A size follows the person's Who can see this default unless you choose otherwise when you record it. The person the size is about can also see it if they are a household member: sizes are not secrets, and grown children can keep their own.

Tips

  • Record the date. A shoe size from last autumn is a warning, not an answer.
  • Use the scale on the label. Record what the shoe says and let the guide convert.
  • Add height for the growing ones. It is the size that explains all the others.
